MEMBERS
Carlos Portugal Gouvêa
CEO
Carlos Portugal Gouvêa is the CEO of IDGlobal. He is also an Associate Professor of Corporate Law at the University of São Paulo (USP) and holds a Doctorate in Law from Harvard University (S.J.D., 2008). He was a Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School in 2022 and 2024. Additionally, Carlos is a partner at PGLaw, where he leads the areas of corporate law, M&A, banking law, and corporate governance. He is licensed to practice law by the Brazilian Bar Association (São Paulo section) and the Supreme Court of the State of New York, USA. Between 2015 and 2018, he served on the Appeals Board of the National Financial System at Brazil’s Ministry of Finance. Carlos has authored numerous works, including the books “A Estrutura da Governança Corporativa” [The Structure of Corporate Governance] and “Análise dos Custos da Desigualdade” [Analyzing the Costs of Inequality]. At USP’s Faculty of Law, he coordinates several study and research groups, including the Law and Poverty Group, the TechLab – Law and Technology, the Journal of Commercial Law, the Center for Asian Legal Studies (CELA), the Third Sector Study Group (G3S), and the Legal Design Studies Center (NELD). Carlos is also the Chair of the Inclusion and Belonging Commission at USP’s Faculty of Law. He is a board member of the Fulbright Commission in Brazil, Brasa – Brazilian Students Association, and Generation, and a founding member of the Sou da Paz Institute.
Dalila Martins Viol
Executive Director
Dalila Martins Viol is the Executive Director at IDGlobal, overseeing the institute’s activities. Previously, she served as Academic Director. Her expertise lies at the intersection of public and private law, particularly in anticorruption compliance programs. Dalila holds a Doctorate in Law and Development from FGV Law School in São Paulo, with a research period at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Germany. She also earned a Master’s in Public Administration from the Fundação João Pinheiro and a Law degree from the Federal University of Ouro Preto. Before joining IDGlobal, Dalila was a postgraduate scholarship recipient from FAPESP, CAPES, and FAPEMIG, a researcher at FGV’s Law, Economics, and Governance Center, and worked as an administrative law attorney and municipal public prosecutor
Fernanda Valle Versiani
Research Director
Fernanda Valle Versiani is the Academic Director at IDGlobal. She previously served as the coordinator of the Grupo de Estudos de Direito Empresarial (GEDEMP) [Business Law Study Group] and as a Business Law professor at the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), Brazil. Currently, she is a Business Law professor at the Faculty of Law of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (FDUFMG), Brazil, where she completed both her Master’s and Doctorate degrees. During her doctoral studies, Fernanda was a FAPEMIG fellow and conducted part of her research through the Brazil’s National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) Business Doctorate program, as well as at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg, Germany. Her dissertation was selected in FDUFMG’s internal evaluation to compete for the CAPES Thesis Award and the UFMG Thesis Award in 2021, receiving honorable mention in both categories. Her research focuses on Capital Markets and Corporate Law, with an emphasis on Corporate Governance and Sustainable Development.
Vanessa Rodrigues Lopes
Administrative Director
Vanessa Rodrigues Lopes is the Administrative Director at IDGlobal and oversees the Institute’s administrative and financial operations. Her expertise includes managing accounts payable and receivable, treasury, and invoicing; budget and expense management; financial and strategic planning processes; human resources; as well as administrative decision-making.
Amanda Teles
Coordinator of the Vozes Lab Program
Amanda Teles Marques is the General Coordinator of the IDGlobal Program. She holds a Law degree from the University of the State of Amazonas (UEA), a specialization in Human Rights from the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Law at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM). Her research focuses on socio-environmental rights, emphasizing Indigenous Peoples and Traditional Communities.
Deborah Bittar
Academic Coordinator
Deborah Marconcini Bittar is the Academic Coordinator of IDGlobal. She is a Master’s student in International Relations at the University of São Paulo (USP), holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law, and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in History at the same institution. Previously, she worked as a researcher at the Center for Human Rights and Business at FGV Law School (FGV Direito SP). Her research focuses on Human Rights, International Relations, History, and Gender.
Julia Soares
Communications Coordinator
Julia Soares is a researcher and Institutional Communications Coordinator at Vozes Lab (IDGlobal). Her work focuses on the Just Energy Transition, with particular emphasis on environmental and climate justice, Indigenous peoples’ rights, and gender issues. She is currently completing her undergraduate degree in Law at the University of São Paulo (USP). She is also actively engaged in energy justice debates through the Energy & Communities Network, an initiative in which IDGlobal participates and to whose articulation Julia contributes.
Adriano Teixeira
Researcher
Adriano Teixeira is a researcher at ID Global, a member of the Mura and Tupinambá indigenous peoples, and a specialist in digital communication and multimedia production. With extensive experience in strategic communication and multiplatform content production, he stands out for developing customized strategies for each territory, combining technology, culture, and sustainability.
Ademir Garcia
Researcher
Ademir Garcia is a researcher at IDGlobal. He is an Indigenous person from the Kaingang ethnic group, born in Nonoai, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Raised in the Kondá Village in Chapecó (Santa Catarina), he proudly carries the ancestry of his people and the wisdom passed down by his grandfather, Jorge Kagnỹn Garcia, a recognized kujá (shaman) and Kaingang spiritual leader. From an early age, Ademir was involved in the traditional practices, ceremonies, and sacred knowledge of his community. For five years, he worked as an educator at the Indigenous School Sãpe Tỹ Kó in the Kondá Village, teaching literacy to children and contributing to the education of youth and adults. He also served as a bilingual teacher, promoting the teaching of the Kaingang language and valuing Indigenous culture through culturally rooted pedagogical practices. He is currently pursuing a Law degree at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Ademir is a researcher with the PET Conexões de Saberes Youth Public Policies (PPJ) group and a member of the Indigenous University Student Movement. His research areas include memory, identity, and cultural strengthening, such as the creation of a virtual platform called the Indigenous Student Catalog at UFRGS and the Kujá Jorge Kagnỹn Garcia Project, which honors the spiritual and cultural legacy of his grandfather.
Amirele Porto Machado
Researcher
Amirele is a Researcher at IDGlobal. She is member of the Guarani/Kaiowá and Terena peoples from Aldeia Jaguapiru in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), Brazil. She holds a Law degree from the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul) and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Law at the Federal University of Pará. Her research focuses on the criminal justice system and Indigenous peoples, specifically the penal treatment of Indigenous and the criminalization of Indigenous leaders in the context of territorial reclamation. At IDGlobal, Amirele primarily contributes to research on Indigenous rights, supporting projects that address justice system challenges and policies impacting Indigenous and traditional communities.
Anderson Teles
Researcher
Anderson Teles is an Indigenous researcher from the Arapaço people of the Upper Rio Negro region (Amazonas, Brazil). He has over seven years of experience in third-sector communications and is a member of the IDGlobal team, where he works as a Research Communicator. He brings four years of professional experience working with Indigenous organizations and has been an active member of the Indigenous Communicators Network since its inception. His areas of expertise and research include scriptwriting, creative editing, and the use of artificial intelligence in digital storytelling.
Ana Beatriz Pacheco
Researcher
Ana Beatriz Pacheco is an undergraduate student in Law at the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) and holds a technical degree in Information Technology from the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais. She participated in the PETI – Law program at UFLA and served as a teaching assistant for the discipline of Civil Law I. She is a member of the Center for Studies in Private Law, Innovation, and Technology (NEDIT) and is a fellowship recipient for Technological and Industrial Initiation A from CNPq/Ministry of Health, developing research on regulatory impact analysis and the fight against health misinformation. Her main interests include digital law, regulation, data protection, and technological innovation.
Isabela da Silva
Researcher
Researcher at IDGlobal, where she conducts research on Just Energy Transition, Carbon Markets, Comparative Law, and Human Rights. She is a PhD candidate in Human Rights at the University of São Paulo Law School (FDUSP), with research focused on examining the socio-environmental effects of artificial intelligence in the context of human and fundamental rights of Ethnic Peoples in Latin America. Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Law from the Ribeirão Preto Law School of the University of São Paulo (FDRP/USP). She participated in the Complementary Training Program in Law and Technology at the State University of Londrina (UEL, 2023/2024) and was an exchange student at the University of Camerino (UNICAM, 2022/2023) in Italy. Co-author of the book chapter “Free, Prior, and Informed Consultation in the Energy Transition: The Experience of an Indigenous Territory,” from the collection “Challenges of Sustainability and COP30,” published during COP30 in Belém, Pará.
Isabela Soares Bicalho

Isabela Soares Bicalho is a researcher and lawyer whose work focuses on the intersection of human rights, environmental protection, and climate governance. She is currently a Master’s student in International Law at the University of São Paulo (USP), where she investigates the role of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, with emphasis on the development of its advisory opinion on the climate emergency and human rights. Her trajectory combines practical and academic experience, including work with civil society organizations and legal consulting focused on sustainability. She has experience in social and environmental due diligence, the preparation of technical legal opinions, strategic litigation related to environmental disasters, and analysis of compliance with international regulatory frameworks and ESG commitments. She holds a Bachelor of Laws from the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), with international academic mobility through the Association of Portuguese Speaking Universities (AULP), carried out at Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias in Lisbon. She has served as a teaching assistant in International Law, conducted research in study groups on coloniality and human rights, and coauthored books and articles on climate justice, civil liability, and the protection of traditional peoples. She has been a member of the Latin American Climate Lawyers Initiative for Mobilizing Action (LACLIMA) since 2021.

Jhelice Franco da Silva is a researcher at IDGlobal. She is an Indigenous woman from the Kaiowá people, as well as an interpreter and translator from the Amambai village in the Panduí territory. She is part of the research group on Socio-environmental Conflicts at the University of Mato Grosso do Sul, Naviraí campus.
Mariana Caroline Silva Aguiar
Researcher
Mariana is an academic intern at IDGlobal, contributing to multidisciplinary research. She has interned at the São Paulo Municipal Attorney General’s Office and worked as a teaching assistant at USP. Her academic research focuses on international climate litigation and human rights. Mariana is an editorial board member of the Journal of Commercial Law (RDM) and a researcher at USP’s OAS Chair and the International Studies Center. Her interests include Public International Law, Human Rights, and Environmental Law.
Mayara Mendes
Researcher
Mayara Mendes is a researcher at Vozes Lab (IDGlobal), where she conducts research on the Just Energy Transition in Indigenous and traditional territories. She is an Indigenous Goytaká woman from Aldeia Marakanã. Her work prioritizes socio-environmental issues, public policies, and human rights. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Forest Engineering from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). Throughout her career, she has worked in the field of Forest Restoration at the Rio de Janeiro State Water and Sewage Company (CEDAE) and has also been actively involved in social mobilization for the defense of human rights, including the development of advocacy documents focused on the creation of public policies related to access to and quality of water. In this context, she led the Global Youth Movement for Water in partnership with the Secrétariat International de l’Eau, Solidarité Eau Europe, and the United Nations (UN).
Maycon Flores
Researcher
Maycon Flores do Nascimento is a researcher at IDGlobal. He is currently studying Law at the Federal University of Western Pará (UFOPA) and is a member of the program Living Indigenous Language in Law (LIVD). He is involved in the project to translate the Brazilian Federal Constitution into the Ticuna Indigenous language, promoting access to constitutional rights for Indigenous communities. He is also part of the Indigenous Academic Training program and works in defense of linguistic justice and the right to information. His areas of interest include Indigenous rights, constitutionalism, legal pluralism, legal translation, environmental law, and public policies aimed at the sociocultural and linguistic inclusion of traditional populations.
Rafael Semenssatto

Rafael Giuseppe Menezes Semenssatto is a Law undergraduate student and has worked as a teaching assistant in the courses of Constitutional Law and Fundamentals of Business Law. He coordinates the research group “Law and Poverty,” which focuses on producing studies on the interactions between law, the roots of poverty in Brazil, and social justice. He is also a member of the group “Law, Discrimination, and Diversity,” dedicated to rethinking legal education and incorporating perspectives on diversity and anti-discrimination into law school curricula. In this context, he was part of the team that presented research at the 14th Empirical Legal Research Meeting. Previously, he interned at the 1st Business and Arbitration-Related Disputes Court of the São Paulo Court of Justice. He has a particular interest in researching human rights, intellectual property, and economic law.
Rodrigo Botão

Rodrigo Botão is a researcher at IDGlobal. An economist by training, with academic background and experience in research and public policy analysis in the energy sector, with an emphasis on natural gas market regulation and the energy transition. Holds a PhD in Energy from the University of São Paulo (USP), including a research period as a Research Scholar at the University of Texas at Austin, and teaches courses on Renewable Energy, Energy Transition, and Climate Change at PUC-SP. Has participated in relevant academic projects, including publications on regulation and energy transition, as well as research on unconventional gas in Brazil carried out as a researcher at the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) and at GASBRAS. During the master’s studies at the University of Bath, represented the institution at the Rotman European Trading Competition (2012), held at LUISS University in Rome, and worked as a Cost Analyst at RWE Power (Innogy plc) in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Professional experience also includes work in the private sector as Financial Coordinator at GASMAR (Maranhão Gas Company), leading financial and project feasibility analyses, and as a Venture Capital Analyst at Alternatives.Pe, a Singapore-based firm, focusing on regulation, pricing, and market strategy studies in the energy and technology sectors.

Erleyvaldo Bispo
Fundraising Coordinator
Erleyvaldo Bispo served as the Fundraising Coordinator for the IDGlobal Program, where he developed multidisciplinary research. He studied Forest Engineering and was a volunteer rapporteur at the 8th World Water Forum (2018). Erleyvaldo was invited to the 4th Global Climate Policy Conference (2018) and became the first Global Attitude Institute Fellow to attend the Forum of Latin American and Caribbean Countries on Sustainable Development (2019) in Santiago, Chile. He was selected by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) and ARUP as a young professional to participate in the World Water Week (2019) in Stockholm, Sweden. Erleyvaldo also participated in the 20th edition of the Shell Youth Initiative (2020) and an international challenge hosted by CERN and European universities. Recently, his project on water, sanitation, and hygiene was selected by the International Secretariat for Water, leading to his participation in the 2023 UN Water Conference in New York City, USA.
Gildemar da Paixão

Gildemar da Paixão Trindade worked as an intern in the IDGlobal Program, where he conducted multidisciplinary research. He is a quilombola from the Quilombola Community of Paramirim das Crioulas and the author of the book “Thoughts in the Calabash: Memories, Stories, and Quilombola Traditions”, his debut literary work. Gildemar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Humanities (2018) and completed a postgraduate specialization in Amazonian Studies at the University of Brasília (UnB) in 2022. Currently, he is pursuing a Law degree at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and is part of the LIVRO-LUGAR extension group. His work focuses on territorial, cultural, and traditional quilombola rights, as well as creative writing that preserves quilombola traditions, culture, and oral history.
Gisele Campos

Gisele Campos Batista worked as an intern at IDGlobal, contributing to program coordination. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Government at the same institution. Previously, Gisele conducted research at the Institute for Health Policy Studies (IEPS) and worked as an advisor at Conectas Human Rights, among other organizations. Her expertise includes project management, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and public policy analysis, with a focus on human rights, public health, and ethnic-racial studies.
Gustavo Manicardi Schneider
Strategy Director
Gustavo holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Law from the University of São Paulo (FDUSP) and is pursuing an LL.M. at Harvard Law School (HLS). As Strategy Director at IDGlobal (2022–2024), he co-created the program and coordinated activities for its first two cohorts. Gustavo is also a Climate Leader with the Harvard University Center for the Environment/Salata Institute and a researcher in HLS’s Environment and Energy Program.
Jayne Naelly Santos Silva

Law undergraduate at USP and intern in the tax advisory area at Lavez Coutinho law firm. She also took part in CIADT, promoted by IBDT. In addition, she was part of Escuta Sanfran, an initiative supported by IDGlobal, which sought to promote well-being and inclusion at the USP Law School.
Maria Antonia Dezidério

Maria Antonia Dezidério served as an intern in the IDGlobal Program, contributing to multidisciplinary research. Previously, she was a coordinator at the Coalition for Adolescent Girls and interned in Strategic Litigation on Climate Change at Carvalho Siqueira Law Firm, at the VidaAfrolatina NGO, and Fundação Getulio Vargas. While at USP, she served as Treasurer of the XI de Agosto Legal Department and was a member of the Discrimination and Diversity Law Center. Maria Antonia is also a women’s rights activist with Women Deliver and the founder of the ConectElas project.
Maria Gabriella Rodrigues

Maria Gabriella Rodrigues de Souza worked as a researcher in the IDGlobal Program, focusing on Just Energy Transition, Human Rights, and Environmental Rights. She previously served as a research assistant at McMaster University through the Emerging Leaders of the Americas program and is the Executive Director of Rede Vocare, a network of young Brazilians committed to public service. Her areas of interest include racial justice, gender, and international human rights law.
Milena Domingues

Milena Domingues served as an intern in the IDGlobal Program, conducting multidisciplinary research. She is currently pursuing a Law degree at USP. Milena has a background in Public Policy Management at USP-EACH and experience in civil society organizations and the public sector. She has coordinated research on Sexual and Reproductive Rights and focuses on public policy and gender law.
Sara Emanuelly
Researcher
Sara Emanuelly da Conceição Raul worked as a researcher at the IDGlobal Program, where she carried out research activities on Just Energy Transition, Environmental Rights, and Human Rights. She was a Law undergraduate at the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA). Born in Maranhão and residing in the Legal Amazon territory, communicator, and socio-environmental and climate activist, she was a national organizer of the youth network Engajamundo, where she coordinated the Climate Change Working Group (GT Clima) and volunteered at Greenpeace Brazil. She mainly worked on climate justice and environmental racism agendas.
Maria Vitoria Barros Passos

Maria Vitória was an intern at ID Global, where she contributed to multidisciplinary research. She also worked as an intern at Total Eren and Casa dos Ventos, in the areas of Corporate Law and Energy, respectively. She served as External President at SanFran Jr., the junior enterprise of the USP Law School, in addition to being an administrative intern at the XI de Agosto Legal Department. She dedicated herself to academic research through a scientific initiation project on Energy Transition. Her areas of interest included corporate law, energy transition, and comparative law.
Agatha Martins Soares

Agatha was an intern at ID Global, where she contributed to multidisciplinary research. She worked as an intern at the São Paulo Court of Justice (TJSP) and was a scientific initiation fellow at CNPq in the field of environment and urban planning, as well as at the Minas Gerais Research Support Foundation (FAPEMIG) in the field of human sciences and environment. She was also affiliated with the XI de Agosto Legal Department. Her areas of interest included public international law, human rights, and public policy.
Ronaldo Rodrigues Alves Braga

Ronaldo Rodrigues Alves Braga is pursuing a Master of Public Administration in Development Practice (MPA-DP) at Columbia University. He holds a degree in Social Sciences from USP, studied abroad at Sciences Po Paris, and completed a specialization in public policy at the University of Oxford. Between 2014 and 2016, he was part of the Law and Poverty Group at IDGlobal, focusing on health judicialization initiatives. Ronaldo has also worked with organizations like Fundação Lemann, Instituto Gesto, and Motriz, leading projects in education and racial equity. His career combines practical experience with academic excellence, with a focus on social transformation and sustainable development.
Luís Gustavo Gonçalves Barreira

Luís Gustavo Gonçalves Barreira was a researcher at the IDGlobal Program, where he carried out research on Just Energy Transition. His expertise included Human Rights, with a focus on Anti-Discrimination Law and Environmental Justice. A Law graduate from the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT), he engaged in academic research in connection with the Center for Extension and Research on Ethnic-Racial Equality and Education (IERÊ/UFT). In addition, he was a founding member of the UFT Human Rights Clinic and served as a Counselor for the Promotion of Racial Equality in the State of Tocantins (CEPIR–TO). Previously, he interned at the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Tocantins and at the Tocantins Court of Justice. He represented the North Region in the SAJ – Presidency of the Republic Exchange Program and received an Honorable Mention in the International Essay Contest for Young People – 2023 (organized by the Goi Peace Foundation with support from UNESCO). He also joined the Procedural Law Team of UFT in the National Procedural Law Competition (IBDP and Processualistas). In 2024, he was selected for the Talentos Unleash Amazônia Program as one of the representatives of the Brazilian Amazon.
Luiza Lessa

Luiza was an intern at ID Global, where she collaborated in conducting multidisciplinary research. She participated in the BRICS Summer School 2024 at Fudan University, China, gaining expertise in global governance and cooperation among BRICS countries. Furthermore, she develops academic research in the PET Juridical Sociology, the Law and Poverty Group (GDP), and the Research Group on Law, Health, and Social Inequality at USP (DS²). She is also part of the administrative team for the Journal of Commercial, Industrial, Economic, and Financial Law (RDM). Her areas of interest are economic law, Asian legal studies, and projects focused on well-being, mental health, and belonging in academic and university environments.
Maria Paula Messerlian

She is also a member of the USP Law and Poverty Group and the coordinator of the Center for Asian Legal Studies at FDUSP. Her areas of interest include human rights, environmental law, and business law.

Ana Bacovis is a researcher at ID Global. She is an undergraduate student in the Journalism program at the Federal University of Santa Maria. Currently, she is a participant in the extension project “Environmental Educommunication on the radio and in schools: A proposal for building active citizenship” with environmental edu-communicative actions, raising awareness, and building knowledge about environmental citizenship in the school environment. She is also part of the Research Group “The Farmer’s Fair in Building Food Citizenship” and the Center for Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous Studies – NEABI at UFSM. Her research areas include food citizenship, the rights of traditional communities, alternative media, climate crisis, and environmental justice.
Aylla Monteiro

Aylla Monteiro de Oliveira holds a Law degree from the University of Pernambuco (UPE) and works as a researcher at IDGlobal, focusing on a Just Energy Transition and the inclusion of Indigenous peoples and traditional communities. Her expertise includes Indigenous Law, Environmental Law, Legal Anthropology, and Research Methodology. She conducts academic research on the Traditional Justice System of Indigenous Peoples in Pernambuco and explores the importance of free, prior, and informed consent for traditional communities, as well as the creation of community consultation protocols.

Cristian Wari’u is a researcher at the Vozes Lab program and an Xavante indigenous communicator, born in the Parabubure territory in the Araguaia Valley (MT). He is currently studying Organizational Communication at the University of Brasília (UnB). His research areas include culture and indigenous peoples in contemporary times, digital content production, and communication strategies aimed at valuing indigenous peoples.
