RESEARCH

Just Energy Transition in the Caiçaras Communities of Ilha do Cardoso:

This research is being funded by a parliamentary amendment from Congress woman Marina Helou. IDGlobal held a popular vote to receive this funding, which demonstrates the support of the community and the relevance of the initiative. This study is carrying out on-site visits and interviews with caiçara communities in the state of São Paulo, with the aim of understanding their experiences and their expectations and perspectives on the issue. The research addresses the democratization of access to energy and guarantees social participation. The conclusions of the research will result in structural guidelines for inclusive public policies.

Climate Change and Sustainability: A Multidisciplinary Analysis of Carbon Offsetting Projects on Brazilian Indigenous Lands:

Among more than 120 submitted proposals, the research led by Prof. Carlos Portugal Gouvêa, President of IDGlobal, was approved for funding by the Foundation for the Support of the University of São Paulo (FUSP). The study aims to explore how to implement a fair distribution of benefits generated by projects affecting Indigenous territories, ensuring this is achieved without imposing external models that might compromise their ways of life.

Additionally, the research seeks to identify ways to adequately compensate Indigenous peoples for their efforts in forest conservation, providing alternatives that foster their financial autonomy and self-management while respecting their cultural values and social structures. IDGlobal fully supports this initiative, reaffirming its commitment to producing inclusive and transformative knowledge.
