Mayara Mendes is a researcher at IDGlobal, focusing on Just Energy Transition in Indigenous and Traditional Territories. She is an Indigenous Goytaká from Aldeia Marakanã and prioritizes socio-environmental issues, public policies, and human rights in her work. Mayara is pursuing a degree in Forest Engineering at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). She has experience in Forest Restoration with Rio de Janeiro’s State Water and Sewage Company (CEDAE) and in social mobilization for human rights advocacy. She also leads the Global Youth Movement for Water in collaboration with the United Nations.
